A laser beam passes through the skin and targets the melanin in the hair shaft. The melanin absorbs the light and heats up, damaging the hair follicle. Laser hair removal can be used on the face, underarms, back, legs, arms and bikini area.
Most people need multiple treatments, usually four to six, spaced a few weeks apart. Periodic maintenance treatments may also be needed.
